Letter January 1, 2010: posted at: www.SurvivalBlog.com "Jim, I am offering a challenge for your readers. I will match dollar for dollar all donations made by your readers to Anchor of Hope (through the Linda Rawles Memorial Fund) up to a total of $20,000. If they will respond, we can raise $40,000 for Anchor of Hope Charities. So that you know that I am serious about this, I am sending my donation of $20,000 to (AOH) today". – An Anonymous Donor

UPDATE: On January 5th, 2010, Anchor of Hope received a donor check in the amount of $20,000.

Contributions provided through this FUND are being used to move forward with 2010 plans to build a Boarding School at Anchor Orphanage. Blueprints have been completed, and work will progress once the rainy season in Zambia has passed (March). The boarding school will serve two purposes. One, it will allow paying students to attend school at Anchor and those funds can then be used to support daily expenses for all that attend school there such as food, books, and more. Two, it will allow our little orphans to integrate with other children.

My sincere thanks to the more than 220 www.SurvivalBlog.com readers that have thus far contributed $12,692.43 to the Linda Rawles Memorial Fund. Some of the children benefiting from this fund can be seen  below. Judy Kendall

Names of some of the children you see above: Ben, Fridae, Gretzen, Veronica and Peter.

 ~ The Goal for this year’s 2010 building effort is $85,000. ~

Anchor of Hope Charities was successful in raising $6011.00 in the OUT OF AFRICA – A SILENT AUCTION held at Fairbanks Hall at Indiana University School of Medicine on September 2nd & 3rd 2009. The event was supported by Todd Melloh from Samaritan’s Feet International, and Ron Hunter, IUPUI basketball coach, who graciously coordinated the donation of shoes to the 186 orphans at Anchor Orphanage during the Anchor Team visit in July 2009.

THIS DORMITORY HAS BEEN COMPLETED!!! It provides housing for 24 of the children who live at ANCHOR ORPHANGE, in addition to providing classroom space for the 186 children attending school at Anchor. Thanks to ALL DONORS who contributed the total of $27,000 needed to complete the build of this dorm/school building. Photos of the school dormitory when it was not quite completed, and of children receiving shoes during the teams visit in July 2009 can be viewed below –
