The children at Belzer Middle School are determined to show
their support for Anchor Orphanage. The student council will lead
their fellow students in two fundraising activities within the next

Kiwanis Speaking Engagement
Judy Kendall was guest speaker at the Northwest Indianapolis
Kiwanis Club on October 22, 2007
She shared her childhood dream of traveling to Africa, and her
recent trip to Zambia where she found truth in the stories of
abandoned orphans, 40% unemployment, and multitudes of families
destroyed by AIDS. In Zambia alone, of a population of 11-million,
1-million are orphans. Many live with aging grandparents, because
AIDS has taken the entire generation of parents from these children.
She also shared her goal of constructing dormitories, clinics and
schoolhouses to support the 400 + underprivileged or orphaned
children in Lusaka, Zambia.
Judy did not come to ask us for money, but instead to help find
contacts that could help her Anchor Project. She seeks to tap the
Kiwanis network and find help for the children.
However generous club members went beyond that call to contribute
close to $1200.00 in funds for the Anchor Orphanage.

Anchor Of Hope's Inaugural 5K Run
Beautiful weather contributed to the success of Anchor Of Hope's
Inaugural 5K Run/Walk event held at Geist Reservior Saturday,
September 22, 2007. With a turnout of over 40 participants, event
proceeds totaled over $3600.00. A remarkable show by the newly
established charity's generous donors.
Acknowledged at the awards ceremony was Dorothy Nicol from Tomah,
Wisconsin taking first place for female runner, and Eric Smith from
Westfield, Indiana taking first place for male runner.
Congratulations!! Honorable mention went to Sunder Nix of
Indianapolis who led the mens runner field but missed a final turn
in the course and finished second.
An amazing team of volunteers and crew members contributed to the
successful event. There to assist participants were Bill Webster,
Ashley Kendall, Chilufya Longwe, Bill Roberts, Brenna Donnelly,
Barry Donnelly, Gabe Donnelly, Al Loper and Bridget Bolles. A team
of Fishers High School students also contributed their time to making sure
that the event ran smoothly. They included Taylor Webster, Andrew
Thornton and Steven Gillian.
All ended on a wonderful note with Anchor of Hope's sponsors
donating event refreshments, t-shirts and health products.
Look for a repeat of this event next year!!!
